Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan, and became an international organization with the creation of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario, the following year. Now Kiwanis serves in 85 nations around the world.
The Kiwanis Club of Saint Charles, Missouri chartered on October 15, 1935, celebrates over 80 years of community service. We are comprised of service-minded individuals, reflecting the community profile, who are dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.
The principle core of the Kiwanis mission is the belief that the most effective way to enhance a community is to enhance its children. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things will happen.
We sponsor Service Leadership Programs allowing kids and young adults to serve their community and develop leadership skills. Led by students and guided by adults, St. Charles Kiwanis youth programs include:
The Saint Charles Kiwanis Club, a model club, also extends our goodwill to a worldwide service project through The Eliminate Project. Kiwanis International partnered with UNICEF in a global effort to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, a deadly but highly preventable disease that kills mothers and newborns in the world's poorest regions.
